The universal bellows unit BALCAST II is a compact, universally deployable bellows with integrated focusing rail and builds directly on the proven concept of the BAL‑F.
In contrast to the automatic bellows units, the BALCAST II itself does not transmit any functions between camera and lens – for this, suitable NOVOFLEX attachment adapters are required, which complete the unit and make it ready for use.
The integrated focusing rail enables exact shifting of the focal plane without changing the bellows extension or tripod position. The magnification ratio remains constant, allowing very fine control over the position of the depth of field in macro shots and object photography.
This is especially valuable for:
- high‑resolution detail and macro photography
- focus‑stacking series with controlled focus placement
- reproduction and product photography, where the composition should remain virtually unchanged
The BALCAST II is fully integrated into the NOVOFLEX adapter system and can be combined with a wide range of lenses from different camera systems. Using the suitable attachment adapters, almost any lens can be connected to almost any camera, which makes the unit extremely flexible for macro, micro, reproduction, and focus‑stacking work.
For extremely detail‑critical work, pairing with the high‑resolution, apochromatically corrected objective head FLEX‑PYRITE90 is recommended. It covers a focusing range from magnification ratio 1:1 to infinity.
